Traffic is an important issue in Knoxville. West Knoxville is a population center and features Kingston Pike, the main thoroughfare that runs from Sequoyah to Turkey Creek in District 2. Currently, the city is studying and implementing a number of improvements to control traffic and ease points of congestion in the 2nd District. Knoxville is applying cutting-edge technology of local company GRIDSMART. The city is adding more traffic sensors and cameras to keep Knoxville moving. Additionally, the Mayor's budget quadruples the budget for sidewalks so that more of us can walk to school and work and shopping without taking our cars. We need to continue to invest more in sidewalks in the 2nd District and to make improvements to our roads to facilitate traffic flow in West Knoxville.
