Neighborhoods and developers work together to build the best possible Knoxville. Our Metropolitan Planning Commission has written that the goal is to “respect the integrity of Knoxville’s vibrant neighborhoods, providing for appropriate development that is compatible with the character of the neighborhoods [and set] standards that encourage a sense of place in the community.” Moreover, a local community forum recently stated, “Communities where you can walk to school, stores, restaurants, parks and grocery stores are more desirable and healthier because they promote physical activity and economic vitality.” My family lives in Northshore Town Center where we can walk to school and the grocery store and we love it. I support our City’s continued commitment to sidewalks, bike paths, parks, greenways, and neighborhood development that respects the unique character of each neighborhood and of our vibrant city.
