When is the primary election and the general election for City Council?

The City of Knoxville Primary Election for Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 is August 29, 2017. The top two finishers in each district will move forward to the General Election on November 7, 2017. More information is available from the Knox County Election Commission.

When does early voting start?

For the Primary Election, the first day for Early Voting is August 9, 2017 and the final day is August 24, 2017. For the General Election, the first day for Early Voting is October 18, 2017 and the final day is November 2, 2017. To find an early voting polling place, visit the Knox County Election Commission website.

How do I absentee vote?

For the Primary Election, you can request an absentee ballot before August 22, 2017. For the General Election, you can request an absentee ballot before October 31, 2017. You can download the Absentee Request Form from the Secretary of State website.

How do I register to vote in Knoxville?

You can download and complete the Voter Registration Application on the Tennessee Secretary of State website. You can find out if you're already registered to vote on the Tennessee voter lookup website.

Where is my polling place?

You can find your nearest polling place by entering your address into the KGIS website. You can also download a list of all the polling places in Knoxville and look at the column for City Council to see your district number.

Do I live in the Second District of Knoxville?

You can run a search for your address on the KGIS website to see your voting precinct, voting location, County Commissioner district and representative, City Council district and representative, School Board District and representative, Tennessee State district and representative, and Tennessee State Senate district and senator.
